About Bill Emslie

Bill Emslie is a locally renowned Scottish watercolourist, celebrated for his evocative paintings of the Great North of Scotland Railway and the landscapes of Aberdeenshire, Banffshire and Deeside.

His work has been commissioned by railway enthusiasts and preservation societies, and supplied to private collectors across the United Kingdom and worldwide. Many paintings were produced as the official GNSRA Christmas card series — an annual tradition cherished by members of the Great North of Scotland Railway Association.

Each Christmas card painting captures a specific station, locomotive or scene from the former GNSR network, often dedicated to a fellow enthusiast or historian who contributed reference material and encouragement.

This website presents The Bill Emslie Collection — including the complete run of GNSRA Christmas cards from 2003 onwards, together with earlier commissions and related works. Every piece is available as a high-quality archival print, produced to museum standards.
